Askida CT allows admin users (Operators) to add or remove users and assign access privileges within their instance, depending on the license requested when purchasing Askida CT.

To access the User Management option within Askida CT, click on the main menu button located on the top right-hand side of the screen and then select "User Management".

Groups

Askida CT allows admin users to create groups of users and administrate individual users, this way permissions and access can be easily applied by moving an individual user into a specific group with already defined user permissions.

Creating a User Group

  1. To create a user group simply click on the  tab located on the left-hand side of the User Management section of Askida CT.
  2. Once the Group tab is open, click the button to add a new group of users.
  3. Askida CT will take you to the Group Creation panel where you can give a Name to your group.
  4. Once you've given a name, click the save button and the new group will be created.

Group Permissions and Attributes

Once the group has been created it will enable the settings for Attributes and Permissions.

Settings

This section is only to rename the group and it is only accessible to Users with the Operator role.

Attributes

This section is only available to the development team.

Role Mappings (Permissions)

There are only 4 roles that should be used when administrating user access or permissions.

Library Manager

Allows a user to be able to update the version of the libraries available within Askida CT.

Manager

Allows a user to go directly into the Dashboard of Askida CT when logging in.

Operator

Allows the user to add, modify, edit and delete Users and Groups. 

Security Warning

It is important that this specific role is only assigned to one user and one user only for security purposes and for a proper administration of Permissions, access and Users within Askida CT.

This role should never be assigned to a group or there should only be one user assigned to the group.

In some specific cases and because of partnerships some instances of Askida CT may contain two Operators, though it still remains not recommended.

QA

All users within Askida CT are automatically assigned to have the role of QA. 

A QA user can create, modify, edit and delete Projects, Test Plans, Functionalities, Scenarios and Testing Steps.

A QA user can also access the Combined Keywords panel and create, edit, copy or delete Combined Keywords from any project within Askida CT.

A QA user can also access the User Variables and System Variables within Askida CT and it can create, edit, copy or delete User Variables from any project within Askida CT.

Security Warning

As of version 2.4.3 there is no access limitations for QA role users.

What this means is that, while a QA user cannot add, edit or remove users from Askida CT, they still have the permissions to modify projects and everything within the project.

In future versions of Askida CT, more roles will be added to the Role Mapping options to restrict users from deleting, modifying, copying or creating Projects, Test Plans, Functionalities, Scenarios and Testing Steps.

There will also be roles to stop users from deleting combined keywords and user variables.

But as of this moment such security levels are not yet accessible.

Members

Members refers to the individual users added to this specific group so they all share the same Role Mappings (Permissions).

To add a user to a specific group it needs to be done directly from the individual user management section.

Clicking on the edit button of the user inside the group will open the Individual User administration panel where the details of the user can be modified.

Individual Users

When accessing the User Manager section of Askida CT the user is immediately taken to the individual user management panel. 

Only an Operator can create, edit, and delete users and groups.

Adding a User

To add a user to Askida CT, click on the button .

This will take open the user creation form.

User Information

The following information is necessary in order to create a user.

  • ID

    The user ID is automatically generated by Askida CT and it cannot be modified.
  • User Name

    It is suggested to always create a user with a name.lastname user name.
    It must all be written in lowercase letters and separated by a period (.).
  • Email

    The email address from the user.
  • First Name

    The name of the user with the first letter capital. (If the user has a second name it can also be added here but not in the User Name section).
  • Last Name

    The last name of the user. (If the user has a second last name it can also be added here but not in the User Name section).
  • User Enabled

    Make sure this button is toggled to enabled.
    A disabled user cannot login into Askida CT even though their profile is still registered and existing in the tool.
  • Email Verified

    It is used to send an email to the user to verify the email address exists and is valid so it can be used for password reset messages.
    When the button is toggled to on, the moment the user is saved, an email verification will be sent to the user.
  • Require User Action

    This section is used to add specific user actions that need to be done when the user logs for the first time into Askida CT.
    The only actions used are:
    1. Update Password
      When a user logs into Askida CT for the first time, it prompts the user to update the password to a password of their choosing.
    2. Update Profile
      When a user logs into Askida CT for the first time, it prompts the user update his personal information.
    3. Email Verification
      When a user logs into Askida CT for the first time, it sends an email verification.


When creating a user 7 tabs become enabled: Details, Attributes, Credentials, Role Mapping, Groups, Consents and Sessions.

Only Details (already discussed above), Credentials, Role Mapping, Groups and Sessions will be used by standard Askida CT users.

User Credentials

Credentials refers to user password, password unlock and password reset.

Manage Password

Only an operator can modify the password of other users.

A standard user can modify his/her own password.

When the Temporary button is toggled to ON, the given password will be temporary until the next login of the user in which moment Askida CT will ask the user to change the password.

Disable Credentials

This option is only available for the dev team.

Credential Reset

This option sends a notification to the user that the password has been reset and a new password needs to be created. 

An action must be selected in the Reset Actions field, this includes also profile update options.

Expiration time can be added for this option if needed.

Finally when both options are filled the button to send an Email becomes enabled and when clicking it the user will receive an email from Askida CT asking for the Password Update.

User Role Mapping

Same as the Role Mapping detailed in the Groups section of this page, only 4 roles should be used.

When a user is assigned to a group the roles are automatically overwritten by those assigned to the group.

Groups

In this section a user can be added or removed from a group.

To add a user to a group, select the group listed in the "Available Groups" and click the Join button.

To remove a user from the group, select the group listed in the "Group Memberships" and click the Leave button.

Consents

This section is for dev purposes only.

Sessions

This section lists all the session in which the user is logged at. 

Only an Operator can log off a user from all sessions.

Enterprise Access

Certain licences of Askida CT allow companies to have a self registration option for companies with a large number of users.


with this access a user can simply self register by filling out the following user form.

Note that only an operator can modify or delete an existing user after the user has self registered.
